SPECTACULAR FOOD & DRINKS

Posted bymvan12on 8/6/2009

We have been to this restaurant many, many times (at least 100). We drive from Elm Grove. My children drive from Bay View area of Milwaukee all the way out to enjoy Chinese Foods at this restaurant. The Mai Tai's are memorable - they come in super large glass heads. After a long work week they can really take your mind to a better place. The food is plentiful and priced very reasonably. The sauces on each item are exceptional. The dinners for 2, 3 or 4 on their menu are a great value. You can always substitute what you would rather eat on them and they will adjust the price a small amount. We always do substitutions. Staff is very friendly. Service is great. Have not ever had a bad experience. You can't beat this place for value.

I wont return here!

I had heard great reviews and heard it rocked... well I must have caught them two times on a really bad day! I paid almost 13 dollars for a half-full quart of sweet and sour chicken with tons of sauce and no chicken. The menu price was also different when I got there... It said nothing about pint or quart sizes or difference in price... I was so not please either time. I love chinese and this fell so short from its reviews.

Best Place to Eat, Drink & Meet Friends

Posted bymmorris256on 8/28/2007

Golden Gate Restaurant (also known as: Chinese Cheers, Amy's Place, or Top 100) is the best place to eat, drink and meet friends. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful (they are really have full service - the bartender even fixed my computer while I was having a Mai Tai). Their food is tasty, portions are big (enough for lunch tommorrow) and price is very reasonable. Just ask Chef Amy and she will cook anything you like to the way you want it (even if its not on the menu, I even seen them make Elk Steaks Venison Burgers, Pizza and Spaghetti). They are really a "Top 100 Chinese Restaurant in America" they won the award last year ranking #2 in the USA. They have a very large menu to select from (Chinese & American Food). My favorite dishes are Cantonese Combination Chow Mein, Hong Kong Steak, Friday Fish Fries and Mongolian Beef. I have been eating there for over 15 years and I have not found any place better (my car knows how to get there by itself). See you there.

I have heard a lot about this restaurant from friends, TV and newspapers. We finally drove to Waukesha - it was a little had to find but well worth the trip, it is in a small shopping center. We went on a Friday, we did not have to wait long, they have a full bar, so we waited with a Mai Tai - it was a very big drink and made us feel like we were in Hawaii. The bartender was very friendly, funny and personal. For dinner we had their Cantonese Combination Chow Mein, Sweet & Sour Chicken and Fried Blue Gill Fish Fry. Everything was exceptional, now we know why we heard so much good stuff about this place. They really deserve to win the "Top 100 Chinese Restaurant Award in America" 2006.
